Star Trails
October 2026
Since a new moon finally aligned with a long weekend, I decided to head up to my nearest dark site away from light pollution to take some photos of the stars.
I have been trying to photograph star trails all summer, but weather and smoke conditions did not allow it during my hiking and backpacking trips.
It has been 7 years (!!!) since I had last shot some proper star trails and I've been itching more for a while. I went with Kodak E100 as my film of choice since I generally prefer slide film for long exposures.
I spent two nights across two locations, being out from around 12AM to 3AM each night, shooting a combination of exposure times from 10 to 60 minutes. I think staying up past my bedtime paid off.
